Soldier Boys

so far in the book after the last post, Dieter's older brother Robert wants to join the navy to fight back at the japs and protect his country. he finally gets his dad to sign the slip saying it is ok for him to join. about two years later when Dieter is a 10th grader he chooses he wants to quit school and join the navy with his brother. his dad of course says no and he needs to stay in school and get good grades but then Dieter said he had already turned in his books and quit. so his only options were to join the navy or so nothing with his life since he dropped out of school, so his dad tells him he will sign the slip for him to join the navy with his brother who has been in it for about two years now.
